Has Camp Davidson made an impact on you?

Has Camp Davidson had an impact on your life? If it has, please share it with us. Do you have specific memories of who you met, what you learned, how the Lord changed your life at Camp D? Do you have pictures you'd like to share from Camp D? You can fill out the feedback form Here. As long as the details you provide are appropriate, you may soon see them on this site. I want this to be a place where we can share our memories of how Camp D has impacted peoples' life over the years.

Just recently Camp Davidson was under the risk of being destroyed by forest fire. God takes care of his own, and the camp was spared. Flames got very close to the main offices and even within yards of the boys' showers. More details are available on the Camp Davidson website. The flames that burnt the forest pale in comparison to the flames from heaven during chapel time. Speakers and worship teams were always ready to bring us to the presence of God in a way you could never experience at your home church.

Joe Notter Camp Davidson, located between Suttle Lake and Blue lake in the middle of Oregon, near Sisters is one of the best places I know of. This place holds many memories from my growing-up years. Camp Davidson was a place where I made many new friends over the years, enjoy rocking worship and ministry, learn how to share a room with eight other guys, learn to be outgoing, snack on more candy than was good for me, learn how to hit a hole-in-one on hole #7 of the "Chapin Putt".

I met so many people over the years at Camp D: Candis A Calhoun, Annette Knight (Of all the fish in the sea... I got A Net), Katie Thomas, Mandi Hawkins ("Deodorant" ... wonder where she is now), Daisy Fields, Andy Mennenhall, Rebecca McMurrin (Wasn't being a counselor at Kids Camp crazy?), Mike Kirk, Matt Barnes, Russ and Rhonda Jorgensen, Scott and Ty Covey, Cherish Wilcox (Funny who you run into in strange places), Dana Martin, Sara Tuttle, Angie Bren, Michelle Martin (Any time I meet somebody really outgoing I think of you), Dean and Dearra (Amazing who you meet and run into again... I still remember hitting my forehead and sending my red fish hat flying... and to realize you were friends with Mandi), Paul (Inspiration to me for being a worship leader... amazing who you run into at Mariners games), Kelly Kirschmann, the Delivery Boys (three generation of them), Eric Nerf, the list could keep going on. I made such great friendships over the years.

I also got into fights with best friends and cousins over who was supposed to like who from the girls at the camp. I remember tons of teasing, and talking late into the night about things like "who farted", which girls we thought were cute, how we liked or hated the food, who would have to hit the showers or else, and even how the evening service affected us... what had the Lord done in our life during Altar Time.

Camp D was also one of the places I realized I had a talent in music good enough for worship teams. I wore my shoulder and fingers out with the one hour worship at the beginning of the evening chapel and the three hour altar time afterwards. That chapel, now demolished and replaced by a much larger meeting facility, was often sweltering hot, and you could tell who wore too much "Stink-em" when they got ready for chapel. The girls would dress-up and do their hair, and even us guys would do their best to look good. Of course we were there to meet girls... uh I mean the Lord.

I remember my best friend flirting with lots of girls... he seemed to make friends so easy on the first day of camp. Steve was best known for playing "The Addams Family" on the piano in the mess hall at lunch and dinner.

Even the bus rides to and from camp were unique. We would listen to music, play cards, socialize, and snack like crazy. We would stop at Detroit Lake for lunch and we would stock up on snacks for the week... even though we knew the "Snack Shack" would be open when we got there. We would also sing songs from camp on our way home, exhausted and reminiscing about our week at camp. Many would sleep, too.

Colleges would send drama, music, and comedy teams that would do skits that were hilarious and impacting. Delivery Boys were hilarious. Would you believe one of the team leaders (Roz from NC) remembered me from a camp a year after... I hadn't even introduced myself to her during the camp... I just played bass for worship.

Steven Bjork "I remember when I was at Camp D I was called to the ministry of music for the first time. That was awesome. Just a side note, I had a couple girlfriends at each camp. But yet, I still enjoyed my time with God especially at chapel. And if Angie Bren reads this, I'm happy for you getting married and I've heard you've had kids too. I also have a great wife and a daughter named Noelle. If you are reading this and wondering who Angie Bren is; she was my 2 year camp long girlfriend. Well anyways, God sure impacted my life in many ways, and I'm very thankful."
